AHN myPlate® Spin Column
AHN myTube® Spin Columns are specifically designed for purification, isolation and separation of biomolecules. They have a wide range of applications from DNA to RNA as well as from plasmid to virus and genomic DNA. Furthermore, they can be used for classical PCR purification up to next-generation sequencing in sample preparation.
Application range of the AHN myTube® column
Molecular biologists frequently isolate plasmid DNA from microbial cells for various applications such as sequencing, cloning and gene therapy. After performing a polymerase chain reaction (PCR), it is often necessary to separate the PCR products from the reaction mixture (nucleotides, primers, enzymes, and buffers), a process commonly referred to as PCR purification. AHN myTube® spin columns provide a rapid and cost-effective way to recover concentrated DNA from agarose gels. Extraction of genomic DNA is a fundamental process in molecular biology, enabling a variety of applications such as cloning and sequencing.
Design of the AHN myTube® Spin Column
The AHN myTube® Spin Column system consists of a standard 0.8ml round filter tube equipped with a matching filter and connected to a 1.5ml or 2.0ml collection tube. The overall design of this spin column has been developed to be compatible with most centrifugation systems. AHN myTube® Spin columns can be used in centrifuges up to 25,000 x g - e.g. in the fixed-angle rotor up to 30,000 x g or in the swing-out rotor. The AHN myTube® Spin column is characterized by high resistance to extreme mechanical stress and excellent chemical resistance.
The filter tubes are the main component of the AHN myTube® Spin column and are made of high quality polypropylene, which does not affect the reactions of the components. AHN myTube® Spin columns are characterized by a high filtration rate from the beginning and an optimal retention volume. This makes them an excellent choice for a variety of life science applications. AHN myTube® Spin columns are equipped with high-quality filtration membranes that can be used in many common laboratory procedures. Filter membrane options are tailored to customers' specific applications and should be selected according to researchers' requirements. The filter membranes are made of various materials, including glass fiber and polyethylene.
Collection tubes are available in two different sizes: 1.5 mL and 2.0 mL. Both volumes are compatible with the myTube® Filter Tubes, as the myTube® Filter Tubes are universally applicable. The collection tubes have marked graduations that clearly indicate the volume to avoid sample handling errors. Like the Filter Tubes, the myTube® Collection Tubes are manufactured from high quality, steam sterilizable, non-wettable, pure polypropylene in AHN's ISO 9001 certified factory.
