This system for airborne microbial collection allows impaction on culture medium plates that serve directly as a collection head. The culture media tray is directly integrated into the impaction sieve. Metal sieves and slotted collection heads that have to be sterilised before use are thus a thing of the past. The geometry of the culture medium plate and the 400 impaction holes of the sieve guarantee the highest recovery rates of airborne germs, especially in comparison to most conventional impaction collectors. The pump for the air flow in this new method is the well-tried AirPort MD8 air sampler, which is already successfully used for collection with the gelatine filter method.
