AHN myPlate® Deep Well Plates AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well microplates are an exciting and new addition to AHN myPlate® range of life science laboratory consumables. These new 96-deep-well plates complement AHN myPlate® PCR plates by providing greater liquid handling capacity for PCR preparation. In addition, the new 96-deep-well plates open up a range of new possibilities. In this article, we will give you an overview of the various features of the new myPlate® 96 Deep Well Plates with a special focus on how the product features can impact your daily work in the laboratory.High capacity deep well plates The new AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well Plates have been designed from the ground up to provide high liquid handling capacity for most of your most demanding applications. These 96-deep-well plates are currently available in 1.2 mL and 2.2 mL variants, perfect for most life science processes requiring large sample volumes. The 1.2 mL AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well plates have a total capacity of 115.2 mL, while the 2.2 mL variants have a maximum capacity of 211.2 mL. The high capacity of the AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well Plates enables automation of processes that would normally require individual AHN myTube® microcentrifuge tubes. To ensure that the AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well Plates can be automated, we have also made some design decisions, which are described below.ANSI/SLAS compliant 96-well plates. To ensure universal compatibility with robotic liquid handling platforms, AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well plates conform to required industry standards. Our manufacturing team, working within the specifications for microplates defined by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Society for Laboratory Automation and Sieving (SLAS), has ensured that the dimensions of AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well Plates are within the technical requirements. This means that AHN myPlate® 96 deep-well plates can be safely used on robotic platforms such as the Beckman Biomek® liquid handling robot and the Hamilton Microlab® STAR. By aligning AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well plates with industry standards, we increase compatibility between platforms and protocols. In addition to standardizing product dimensions, we offer flexibility in capacity and design, as described below.Deep well plates with flexible selection One of the greatest features of laboratory consumables like AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well Plates is their potential for flexibility - the ability to optimize them for a wide range of application scenarios. AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well plates are supplied with round or V-shaped bottoms. AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well plates with round bottoms facilitate efficient mixing of samples. As such, these deep-well plates can be used for sample preparation for techniques such as liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). AHN myPlate® 96 deep-well plates with V-bottom are ideal for protocols that require concentration of specific portions of liquid samples. As such, AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well plates with V-bottom are the excellent choice for centrifugation processes.Deep-well plates without biological contamination. To offer the best deep-well plates on the market, we have ensured that our manufacturing process eliminates the risk of biological contamination. AHN myPlate® 96 deep-well plates are manufactured in our world-class production facility, which is operated by a 100% unmanned automated robotic system to ensure contamination-free products. The manufacturing facility is 100,000 cleanroom class (US FED STD 209E) and is regularly monitored to ensure compliance with quality standards. All non-sterile AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well Plates manufactured in our facility are guaranteed to be free of DNA (anthropogenic or non-anthropogenic), inhibitors, DNases, RNases and other common molecular contaminants. To further minimize the risk of contamination, AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well Plates have additional features described below.Deep-well plates with contamination-reducing properties The wells of AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well plates are carefully arranged in a 5×8 grid, with each well equally spaced from adjacent wells. This detail may seem mundane, but it is necessary to reduce and prevent contamination on automated liquid handling platforms. In addition to ensuring that the wells of AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well plates are carefully spaced, our product design team also designed raised edges at the opening of each well. The raised rim design of AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well plates provides a subtle and effective barrier that prevents liquid samples from splashing into adjacent wells, which would lead to erroneous results in your experiments. These contamination-reducing properties of AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well plates are design features that are maintained in various thermal environments, as described below.Temperature resistant 96-well plates AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well Plates are manufactured from high-quality polypropylene and feature industry-leading temperature stability. This gives users the flexibility to use the 96-well plates for cold storage of samples at temperatures as low as -80°C. AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well Plates remain strong and stable during cold storage without becoming brittle like other polymers. As such, these deep well plates can be used for long-term storage of samples and reagents in low temperature environments. In addition, AHN myPlate® 96 deep-well plates can withstand elevated temperatures up to 121°C without melting. This allows users to easily sterilize and decontaminate used AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well Plates. Coupled with their excellent thermal properties, AHN myPlate® 96 Deep-Well plates have superior chemical stability as described below.Chemically Inert Deep-Well Plates The primary material used in the manufacture of AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well Plates also provides excellent chemical resistance. The superior quality of the polypropylene used in AHN myPlate® is chemically inert and will not interact with many chemicals used in experimental life science protocols. This reduces the risk of failed experiments by reducing key chemicals in reaction mixtures. Additionally, AHN myPlate® 96 deep-well plates are resistant to the corrosive effects of some weak organic chemicals routinely used in life science research. Chemically stable plastic consumables such as the new AHN myPlate® 96 Deep Well plates provide an all-in-one reaction environment - reducing the need to order custom plates for the various steps of an experiment.Indexed Deep Well Plates As a final feature of the new AHN myPlate® 96 microplates, we would like to introduce the intuitive sample localization index on this page. Each AHN myPlate® 96 deep well plate has an easy-to-read alphanumeric grid system for sample indexing. The letters and numbers are embossed into the walls of the deep well plates in a font that is easy to read and feel. By integrating the index directly into the polymer, the risk of the letters or numbers being erased by physical or chemical means during use of the deep-well plates in experiments has been reduced. The letters are arranged from A to H along the short edge of the deep-well plates, while the numbers 1 to 12 define the wells along the long edge. This sample location system is compatible with the documentation software of many robotic platforms and allows users to easily locate samples without automated workflows.
