Sartorius nutrient cardboard discs, NKS for short, have been used successfully in conjunction with the membrane filter method for 20 years. The membrane filtration method enables the quantitative determination of microorganisms in relatively large sample volumes. Inhibitors, such as essential oils or preservatives, can easily be rinsed out before incubation. Due to their practical handling, nutrient carton discs facilitate and simplify many microbiological examination procedures. Microorganisms need the right nutrient medium to grow optimally. NKS are sterile culture media in dry form, already placed in sterile Petri dishes. After moistening with 3.0-3.5 ml sterile distilled or demineralised water, the NKS are immediately ready for use. Moistening is ideal when a clear excess of liquid is visible at the edge zone. All NKS types are supplied with the corresponding membrane filters, which are also individually and sterilely packaged. The membrane filters, specially developed for the special requirements of germ detection, are available in either 50 mm or 47 mm diameter. The nutrient carton discs (NKS) are constantly being improved as part of our product development to meet the changing requirements of the application. Apart from new NKS types, we have also optimised the packaging design. The standard pack of nutrient carton discs contains 100 NKS, each lying individually in a Petri dish and sterilised. Ten of these Petri dishes are each sealed in an aluminium bag. This specially designed packaging protects the sensitive components of the culture medium from changes in humidity and temperature fluctuations during transport and storage. Thus, we can guarantee the high quality of the nutrient carton discs during the entire shelf life of up to 24 months. And this is exactly what makes the NKS so unique: no other ready-to-use culture medium in the world ensures reproducible results with consistently high quality for up to 2 years. Sartorius currently offers more than 30 different NKS types for different testing objectives. In addition to the drinking water guidelines, other international regulations are also met: international pharmacopoeias, DIN and ISO standards, American Standards for Water and Food, mineral water regulations, brewery guidelines such as MEBAC or EBC, food industry recommendations such as LMBG, NCA and ICUMSA, etc. Problem-free storage of up to 24 months In accordance with international standards and references Validation documents available Versatile use economical - no time-consuming and labour-intensive preparation of nutrient media necessary Easy handling - no need for further microbiological test material Orange Serum Nutrient Pad Set, pH 3.2, Orange Serum Nutrient Pad Set, pH 3.2
